Greetings and blessings upon you!
At the end of April, I traveled with several Soul siStars to Southern France on a Mary Magdalene pilgrimage. We visited La Grotte de Sainte-Marie-Madeleine, a sanctuary cave nestled into the cliffside 3,000 feet above sea level, and the place where Mary Magdalene lived the last 30 years of her life.
To reach the holy grotto, it takes a 45-minute hike uphill through an ancient forest protected for centuries and considered sacred by the Druids and Celts. This "microclimate" forest is filled with pine, oak, maple, beech, yew and holly trees (over 140 different species have been identified within certain areas of the park). The sacredness of this forest is palpable, and we experienced many beautiful encounters with the Tree Folk and Land Spirits.
The final climb involves150 uneven and weathered steps carved directly into the rugged mountain rock to reach the Terrace of the Grotto, the physical and spiritual threshold before passing into the sanctuary. Upon our arrival, Mary Magdalene's presence immediately whispered, "Come find me". The cavern is surprisingly vast, housing various altars and statues, a lower floor, and two natural pools that continuously fill with spring water. I found myself drawn to a small altar and heard Mary say, "Here." I sat quietly, focusing on my breath. The cave's intense humidity made every exhale visible, adding to the mystical atmosphere. A numinous encounter ensued, leaving me humbled, electrified, and in absolute awe! Sainte-Baume massif will always hold a special place in my heart. May you, too, have the joy and privilege of stepping foot on this hallowed ground.
